In North American calendars, Vijayadashami is observed on October 4, 2022, whereas Dussehra is observed on October 5 in South, East, and Western India.

Dussehra and Vijaya Dashami have symbolic meanings.

Both Vijaya Dashami and Dussehra represent, metaphorically, the triumph of Good over Evil, with Goddess Durga vanquishing Demon Mahisha on the prior holiday and Lord Ram vanquishing Ravana on the latter.

The triumph over ten undesirable characteristics

Dasara, a Sanskrit word, signifies purging oneself of ten negative traits. Dasa (10) plus hara (to destroy)

When these ten characteristics are absent from one's life, one reaches the state of Vijaya, also known as a victory. As a result, the celebration is also known as Vijayadashami, which symbolizes victory (Vijaya) over these ten traits.

A Connection Between Durga Puja and Dussehra is Bhagavan Sri Ram.

It's also thought that Lord Ram held a "Channdi puja" to ask Goddess Durga for her blessings on killing Ravana. Goddess Chamundeshwari or Goddess Durga, pleased with Lord Ram, revealed the method for killing Ravana to him. As a result, there is a connection between Lord Ram and the Durga Puja.

Importance and Significance of Dussehra

Dussehra is celebrated on the 10th day of the month of Ashwin when the moon is getting bigger.
