What is the different type of body according to Ayurveda?

The understanding is that health is not a size fit for all. However, it is essential to Ayurvedic wellness and healing. Instead, each person and situation must be understood in their own right, considering the individual, the season, the geography, etc.
Have you ever wondered why some people are hyperactive, and others are not? Why do some people gain weight despite eating more than they need, whereas others gain weight by eating a simple three-course meal? These questions are answered by Ayurveda's three doshas or body types.

Indian Ayurveda has three body types: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. The doshas are biological energies that exist throughout the human body and mind. They govern physical and mental processes and provide an individual blueprint for health and fulfillment to each living being. These doshas are derived from nature's five elements and associated properties, with Vata composed of space and air, Pitta of fire and water, and Kapha of earth and water.

The balance of doshas in the body helps keep you healthy. Ayurveda states if the proportion of Doshas in your current state is similar to your birth constitution, you will remain energetic and healthy. Conversely, imbalance or divergence between these states can cause sickness and illness. In Ayurveda, this imbalance or deviation from the environment.

Because we are most vulnerable to imbalances related to our doshas, it is critical to have a deeper understanding of what they are and what type of dosha you belong to.

Dosha Vata (Wind energy)

The Vata dosha is derived from space and air elements and is known as the movement energy that governs all biological activities in the body. It is also known as the king of doshas because it regulates the body's greater life force and propels the other two doshas, pitta, and Kapha.

People with Vata dosha are typically active, creative, and naturally able to express and communicate. When they are in balance, they are also quick learners, have a lively and fun personality, and are full of joy and enthusiasm. When their Vata is out of balance, they act on impulse, have mood swings, and react to stress with fear, anxiety, and worry. Body disorders related to skin dryness, dry cough, constipation, lower back pain, menstrual disorders, and abdominal pain are common signs of Vata imbalance. Learn more about cough home remedies.

Body Type Vata

Vata body types are typically physically underdeveloped. Their chests are usually flat, and their veins and muscle tendons are visible. They typically have a brown to the wheatish complexion and dry, rough, and cracked skin.

They can be too short or too tall, and they are usually on the slim side. Their prominent joints and bones are generally visible due to poor muscle development. Their hair is typically curly and sparse, with thin eyelashes. They frequently have sunken eyes, cold hands, and feet, rough and brittle nails, and the shape of their nose is bent and turned up. They may have an irregular sleep pattern and thus sleep less than the other two body types. Discover how to balance Vata.
Vata people enjoy eating sweets and drinking hot beverages.

The Mind of Vata

Psychologically, Vata people have a short-term memory but a quick mental understanding, allowing them to grasp things quickly and easily. They may understand things quickly, but they also tend to forget them just as quickly. They lack willpower and have little tolerance, confidence, or boldness. People of the Vata type are usually nervous, fearful, and easily anxious due to their weak reasoning power.

Pitta (Fire energy) Dosha

Pitta dosha is the digestive and metabolic energy in the body. It uses carriers such as organic acids, hormones, enzymes, and bile. Pitta is primarily found in the small intestines, stomach, liver, spleen, pancreas, blood, and eyes. It provides heat and energy to the body through the breakdown of complex food molecules and governs all conversion and transformation processes in the mind and body.
Pitta people are usually intelligent and are ruled by the emotions of joy, willpower, courage, anger, jealousy, and mental perception.

Body Type Pitta

Pitta body types are typically medium height with a delicate and slender body frame. Their muscle development is moderate, and they usually have a fair or reddish complexion. They have soft skin, and their hair is generally silky but thinner, with an inclination towards premature greying. Their eyes are typically green, grey, or copper brown and have a medium prominence.

Pitta people have a high metabolism and digestion, which results in a voracious appetite. They naturally crave sweet and bitter foods and may consume large amounts of food and liquids. Learn How To Reduce Pitta Right Away.

Dosha Kapha (Water energy)

Kapha dosha is the energy of construction and lubrication that gives the body physical form, structure, and the smooth operation of all its parts. Kapha is mainly found in the chest, throat, lungs, head, fatty tissues, connective tissues, ligaments, and tendons. It helps to lubricate joints, store energy, and give tissues bulk.

In nature, Kapha people are typically loving, easygoing, relaxed, and slow-paced. They have a graceful appearance and are compassionate and nonjudgmental. On the other hand, they are known to be possessive by nature and thus hold on to things and people for an extended period. In addition, they are typically good with money and have a lot of money.

Body Type Kapha

Kapha people have well-developed bodies but tend to carry excess weight. Because of a thick layer of skin and good muscle development, their chests are expanded and broad, and their veins and tendons are not visible. They typically have a fair complexion and lustrous, oily skin. Their hair is thick, dark, and wavy, and their eyes are often dense and large, with a black or blue tint.
They have a normal appetite but tend to eat less because of slow digestion. Learn how to improve your digestion. Discover How To Remove Kapha from Your Body.

The Mind of Kapha

People with a kappa mindset are usually calm and do not get easily irritated. They have a peaceful and forgiving nature and believe in maintaining harmony in their surroundings. However, they exhibit greed, attachment, envy, and possessiveness. Despite their slow comprehension, once they understand something, the knowledge is retained and stays with them for a long time.
